South African cricketers, Aiden Markram, Temba Bavuma and Marco Jansen heaped praise on veteran batter Virat Kohli ahead of the two-match test series against India, which kicks off on Tuesday, December 26 in Centurion. Kohli has been a stalwart of the game, proving himself across all the three formats.

South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma feels Virat Kohli will be the biggest threat for them in the Indian batting line-up. The right-handed batter has a great record in South African conditions in red-ball cricket. In seven matches, he has scored 719 runs at an average of 51.35, including two centuries and three fifties. Temba Bavuma said on Star Sports,

“The biggest threat in the Indian batting lineup, you obviously can’t rule out Virat Kohli. He has played here quite a number of times, so we’ll say that he understands the conditions.”

Aiden Markram expressed that Virat Kohli is a fierce competitor. Showering praise on the Indian batter, he said,

“He is a fierce competitor. We might not always be the most skilful people, but to always try to fight out and compete, have more hunger than you’ve been playing against.”

Bowling to Virat Kohli is tough: Marco Jansen

South African pacer Marco Jansen feels bowling against Virat Kohli is a challenge. He expressed that the veteran cricketer understands the strengths and the weaknesses of the bowlers. Jansen has played two Test matches against Virat Kohli and has found success once. Speaking to Star Sports, he said,

“Bowling to Virat Kohli is tough because he knows what he is doing, and he knows what his strengths and weaknesses are.”

The former Indian skipper has been in fantastic form in Test cricket this year. He has scored 557 runs in seven matches, at an average of 55.70. He has slammed two centuries and a fifty this year in the format.
