India will look to test their bench strength when they lock horns with West Indies in a three-match ODI series. The first of the three games will take place on July 22 (Friday) at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. The Men in Blue will hope to keep the winning run after their recent victory against England.
India have rested as many as six players, who feature in the last series against England. The ODI series offers another opportunity to the players on the periphery to knock strongly on the doors with the 50-over World Cup approaching next year. The onus will be on Shikhar Dhawan, the captain for this series, to shepherd the team like he did against Sri Lanka a year back.
West Indies, on the other hand, come from a series loss against Bangladesh. They are going through a transition and Nicholas Pooran will have to lead the side from the front if they have to trump a team of India’s calibre.
