The BCCI announced a strong squad for the 3-match T20I series against England Women to be played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 6th December. It promises to be an exciting series with many youngsters selected in the squad performing well during the ongoing India A series and Women’s Premier League.

It will be captained by Harmanpreet Kaur and the squad has strong players like Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Varma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Richa Ghosh who would look to create an impact in the series.

The next two matches of the series will be played on 8th and 9th December. These youngsters would be looking to prove their mettle if given a chance in the playing XI.

Here we look at the 3 Indian Youngsters Who Have Been Picked for the T20I series against England Women:

  1. Kanika Ahuja

The explosive left-handed batter Kanika Ahuja put on a good display of batting in the first two matches against England A. Coming at number 6, Ahuja showed intent putting pressure on the bowlers with innovative shots and kept momentum going for India A.

She was eventually dismissed for a quickfire 27 off 14 deliveries with 5 boundaries. Kanika Ahuja could be an ideal choice of batting to put pressure on the bowlers. During Women’s Premier League 2023, she played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and had a decent season with 98 runs from 7 matches at a strike rate of 132.43 including the best score of 46 against UP Warriorz.

With India lacking firepower, Ahuja can be selected the play during one of the matches against England and prove her worth.

  1. Shryeanka Patil

Shryeanka Patil has been selected for the squad after impressive performances in the Women’s Premier League and the ongoing T20I series against England A.

She was the pick of the bowlers for India A during the first T20I with 2 for 26 in 4 overs and bowled the final over defending 13 runs. Patil is an off-spinner bowler who bowls stump to stump line not allowing the batters to score runs easily.

Patil played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Women’s Premier League 2023. She had a decent season with 62 runs from 7 matches with the best score of 23 against Mumbai Indians. With the ball, she grabbed 6 wickets at an economy of 9.84 runs per over.

  1. Saika Ishaque

Saika Ishaque has been included with some lovely performances in the domestic circuit. She is a left-arm spin bowler and created enough impact bowling during the first six overs. Saika makes life tough for the batters with discipline lines and lengths.

She played a key role for Mumbai Indians picking up 15 wickets from 10 matches at an economy of 7 runs per over including 2 maidens. Ishaque would be eager to perform well for Team India if given a chance in the playing XI against a strong England batting lineup.
