5 Indian players to look out for in T20I series against Eng

Team India will take on England in a 3-match T20I series starting on 6th December onwards at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. It promises to be an exciting series as the Kaur-led side has a poor record in T20Is against the England team.

Kaur-led side has a mix of youth and experience that will look to give a tough fight. The Indian team has some great talent that can change the course of the game and put enough pressure on the England team.

Here we look at the 5 Indian Players to look out for in the T20I series against England.

  1. Smriti Mandhana

The stylish left-handed batter and opener will play a key role in providing attacking starts in the first six overs putting enough pressure on England bowlers. She can play aggressive strokes and keep momentum going for Women in Blue.

She has a decent record against England Women in the T20I format with 650 runs from 16 matches including the best score of 79. Mandhana would be looking to dominate the England bowlers in the first six overs and make sure that the Women in Blue start the home season with a win.

  1. Shafali Varma

Shafali Varma opens the batting with Smriti Mandhana. She can put enough pressure on the bowlers with her aggressive intent and not allow them to settle.

She would be playing her first T20I match against England Women. It will be on her and Smriti Mandhana to provide aggressive starts in the first six overs and make sure that they put enough pressure on the England bowlers to help the Indian team register victory.

  1. Harmanpreet Kaur

Harmanpreet Kaur will be eager to provide stability at number 4. She played in the Asian Games finals against Sri Lankan women but could not contribute much.

Kaur has a disappointing performance in the T20I format against England women. She played total of 3 innings and best score of 29. She would be looking to hit the straps against strong bowling lineup helping the Indian side to begin the series on a winning note.

She can hit big shots with array of strokes which makes life tough for the bowlers. With the pitch likely to help batters, Kaur would play a key role in providing stability and keeping the momentum going for Women in Blue.

  1. Renuka Singh

Renuka Singh is an exceptional swing bowler who can provide early wickets in the first six overs and put pressure on batters. It will be key for Singh to not allow England’s openers to score runs quickly in the first six overs.

The pace bowler had a dream spell of 5 for 15 in 4 overs during the World T20 Cup match played this year. She would be looking for the same repeat performance and make sure that England women do not win the match.

She is a dangerous bowler keeping the batters under check and making sure that Indian women restrict the opponent to a modest total.

  1.  Pooja Vastkar

Pooja Vastkar is a genuine all-rounder who contributes with both bat and ball. She can hit the long ball while coming down the order putting pressure on the bowlers.

She is a decent medium-pace bowler who does not allow the batters to score runs freely and keep scoring under check. Her all-round abilities will be on show as her record while batting against England has been poor with 22 runs being his highest from 4 matches.

While bowling, Vastkar has grabbed 1 wicket from 7 matches and would be hoping to improve on her record in the upcoming series against England.
