IND W vs Eng W: Deepti Sharma Picks Five Wicket Haul On The Second Day
Deepti Sharma picks 5 wickets in the first innings against England

The Indian Cricket Team skittled out England for just 136 in the first innings of the one-off Test match at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai on 15th December 2023. It was a superb bowling effort by the Indian bowlers, especially Deepti Sharma.

Renuka Singh got the early breakthrough dismissing Sophie Dunkley with a peach. The Indian bowlers did not allow England batters to score runs freely. Pooja Vastkar got rid of England captain Heather Knight with another superb delivery leaving England women in trouble. Nat Sciver Brunt looked in great touch hitting lovely shots while Beaumont looked cautious against disciplined Indian bowling.

After the lunch break, a great piece of fielding resulted in the run out of Tammy Beaumont. Beaumont and Sciver Brunt added 51 runs for the 3rd wicket. Dani Wyatt looked in positive touch along with Sciver Brunt keeping the scoreboard ticking. Deepti Sharma was bought into the attack and did the damage getting rid of Wyatt providing a simple catch to Rodrigues at short leg. Deepti created havoc with some brilliant bowling not allowing the England batters to put pressure on the bowlers.

Sharma then dismissed Amy Jones hitting Smriti Mandhana on its head and going to Shafali Varma. She produced a beauty to dismiss Sophie Ecclestone in the same over to leave England women in deep trouble. It was a sensational bowling effort by the Indian bowlers creating enough panic among the batters.

Sharma took a simple return catch getting rid of Kate Cross. She ended the innings dismissing Lauren Flier to finish with figures of 5 for 7 in 5.3 overs including 4 maidens. It was simply an outstanding bowling effort by the Indian bowlers as there was assistance for the spinners that made life tough for the England batters.

Deepti Sharma proved her worth as all-rounder

Deepti Sharma proved her worth contributing with both bat and ball. She made well 67 in the first innings and helped the Indian team post an imposing 428 runs.

The off-spinner came up with a stunning bowling performance with lots of turns that troubled the England batters.
