The Indian Cricket Team became the number 1 ranked Test side after thrashing Australia by innings and 132 runs in the first Test played at VCA Stadium, Nagpur finished. It was a dominating display by the Indian team skittling out Australia for 177 runs in the first innings and then scoring 400 runs in their first outing.

Rohit Sharma scored 120 along with Ravindra Jadeja 70, Axar Patel 84 and Mohammed Shami 37 helped India take a big lead of 223. R Ashwin created havoc with another five-wicket haul in Test matches bowling out Australia for 91 in one session to register a thumping win. Ravindra Jadeja was named the player of the match with 70 runs and 7 wickets in his comeback match.

India achieved the number 1 ranked One-day international after whitewashing Sri Lanka and New Zealand 3-0 respectively in the home ODI series. Rohit Sharma dominated six matches with some brilliant performances.

Rohit Sharma became the first captain in history to achieve the number 1 rankings across all formats at the same time.

Under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, India became the number 1 ranked T20 side defeating Sri Lanka and New Zealand by 2-1. It is a historic moment for Indian cricket as they became 2nd side after South Africa to secure the number 1 ranked side across all formats simultaneously.

Ravichandran Ashwin jumped down from number 4 to 2nd spot. He picked 8 wickets in the first Test match with 5 in 2nd innings. With good performances in the ongoing Border Gavaskar series, he can become the number 1 ranked Test bowler since 2017. The veteran off-spinner moved to 2nd in the latest ICC Test all-rounder rankings.

Rohit Sharma also moved from number 10th to 8th position due to his brilliant 120 in the first innings that set up a solid foundation for Team India post 400.
