India To Play One-Off Test Against England; Full Schedule Announced

Indian Women’s Cricket Team will play their first Test match since 2014 when they lock horns with England in a one-off Tets series in Bristol later this year. This will be followed by three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) respectively.

Earlier this year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah had confirmed via a tweet that India will don the whites once again in a Test match against England, later in 2021. And the dream has turned into a reality as Mithali Raj & Co will play against the England side in the longest format after seven long years when the Test starts on June 16 at the Bristol County Ground.

This will be the first time since 2014 that England and India will play a Test match. The Women in Blues haven’t played the longest format since their one-off Test against South Africa in 2014, whereas England played a Test in the 2019 Ashes. The one-off Test will be followed by three ODIs and T20Is each with the tour concluding on July 15 in Chelmsford.

Announcing the busy schedule, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Chief Executive Officer Tom Harrison said that they are really forward to the busy summer leading to the World Cup next year.

“We’re really looking forward to a busy summer in what is a huge year for our England Women’s team, and we’re very excited about hosting India and New Zealand,” Harrison said.
