Team India retained their top spot in the latest ICC Test rankings released on 13, May 2021. As per the latest rankings, India and New Zealand are the top two teams in the rankings. The two teams will also take on each other in the World Test Championship in Southampton from June 18-22. New Zealand were the first team to reach the finals while India earned the second spot after beating teams like Australia and England.
Meanwhile, England have moved up a spot to the third in the rankings, while Australia have moved a spot down to the fourth. Pakistan have maintained their position at number five on the rankings while West Indies have moved from eighth to sixth in the latest ICC rankings.
India have gained one rating point for an aggregate of 121 and New Zealand are only one point behind after gaining two points in Thursday’s update, which eliminates results from 2017-18. The latest update, which rates all matches played since May 2020 at 100 percent and those of the previous two years at 50 percent, according to an ICC release.

South Africa and Sri Lanka have dropped a spot each in the latest ICC rankings. The Proteas are at number seven while the island team is eighth on the ladder. Bangladesh are number nine on the rankings while Zimbabwe who recently lost to Pakistan in a two-match Test series is last on the rankings.
Notably, India were able to retain the top spot, thanks to their famous 2-1 series win in Australia. India also hammered England at home 3-1, coming back from a massive defeat in the series opener in Chennai. New Zealand are at the 2nd spot after having beaten West Indies and Pakistan 2-0 at home.
Meanwhile, Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson leads the ICC rankings for batsmen with Virat Kohli at number five. Pat Cummins leads the bowlers’ rankings with Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin at number two.
