BCCI Announces India’s Squad For ODI And Test Series Against Bangladesh

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced ODI and Test squads for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh. It consists of a three-match ODI series and two-match Test matches, starting from December 4.

The three ODI matches will be played on December 4, 7, and 10 at the Sher E Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. Rohit Sharma will lead the side in Bangladesh after being rested for the series against New Zealand.

Apart from Rohit, KL Rahul, and Shikhar Dhawan would be three openers. Rajat Patidar and Rahul Tripathi have been included in the squad after not being selected in the playing XI during the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa at home. Virat Kohli has been included also in this series.

Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan have been included as wicketkeepers. Ravindra Jadeja has been named in the squad recovering from an injury. Washington Sundar, Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav are the spinners included.

The pace bowling department includes Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Siraj, and Umesh Yadav. Gujarat Titans pacer Yash Dayal has been included as the new face for this ODI series.

ODI squad to face Bangladesh: Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul (VC), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Shreyas Iyer, Rahul Tripathi, Rishabh Pant (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Deepak Chahar, Yash Dayal.

Ravindra Jadeja returns to India’s Test squad

After the three-match ODI series, the Indian team will take on two-match Test series, starting on December 14. These two Test matches are a part of the ICC Test Championship 2021/23 cycle. They would be looking to garner 24 points.

Rohit Sharma will lead the Test team also followed by KL Rahul; Shubman Gill is the opener included. Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer are the middle-order batters. Pant and KS Bharat are the two wicketkeepers in the squad.

The pace bowling department consists of Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Umesh Yadav while Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Kuldeep Yadav are included as spin bowling options.

The first Test match will be played between December 14 and 18 at Chattogram, while the second Test will begin on December 22, 2022.
