Rinku Singh post his highest score in T20I format

The T20I series began with India and South Africa facing each other in the 2nd match of the series played at Port Elizabeth on 12th December 2023. South African captain Aiden Markram won the toss and decided to field first. Yashavi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill fell without contributing much. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav showed intent in putting pressure on South African bowlers. At the end of six overs, India scored 59 for 2.

After the field restrictions, Varma was caught at third man by Marco Jansen. Varma and Suryakumar Yadav added 49 runs off 24 balls. Rinku Singh came to the crease and showed intent right from the word go along with Suryakumar Yadav. Singh played attacking shots not allowing the South African bowlers to settle.

Suryakumar Yadav completed fifty off 29 deliveries laying a strong foundation for an imposing total. Rinku and Surya added 70 runs for the 4th wicket. Rinku Singh looked impressive with his stroke play keeping the momentum despite losing wickets regularly. He completed his maiden fifty in international cricket off just 30 balls and showed his class with some lusty hitting against Aiden Markram in the 19th over. Ravindra Jadeja and Arshdeep Singh fell in the same over. India made 180 for 7 in 19.3 overs before rain stopped play.

Rinku Singh posted his highest score in T20I format remaining not out on 68 off 39 deliveries with 9 fours and 2 sixes that helped India post a decent total. He was playing for the first time on South African soil which has pace and bounce.

Rinku Singh showed his class in the T20I series against Australia.

Rinku Singh proved his worth with some valuable knocks in the T20I series played at home. He came to the rescue with an unbeaten 22 off 14 balls and helped India win on the last ball.

He blasted away the Australian bowling in the 2nd T20I match at Trivandrum where he made 31 off 9 deliveries that helped India post 235 for 4.

Rinku Singh did not get an opportunity to bat in the 3rd T20I at Guwahati. The Indian team struggled in the 4th T20I in Raipur as India lost wickets before he came with a brilliant 46 that helped them to post 174 for 9. He failed to contribute much in the final T20I match at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
