In the meantime, there has been a change in the World Test Championship final venue. It was scheduled to be held at Lord’s but a recent spike in COVID cases made the ICC and the ECB think of a different venue.

Speaking to India Today, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that the final will now be played at Southampton. It is a venue where India has tasted success in recent times.

“Yeah, it is in Southampton. It was decided long time ago. Due to COVID and they [in Southampton] have the hotel absolutely close. When England resumed play after COVID, they had a lot of matches in Southampton due to the same reason,” the BCCI President said.
