India’s Champions Trophy 2025 Jersey To Showcase Official ICC Logo With Pakistan’s Influence: Reports

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has addressed the controversy surrounding the Champions Trophy 2025 jersey. As reported by Cricbuzz, the Indian team will adhere to the tournament’s established guidelines.

The BCCI has reportedly clarified that the Indian jersey will include the official ICC logo featuring Pakistan’s imprint for the Champions Trophy.

“We will follow whatever are the ICC guidelines,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Addressing the official ICC logo for the Champions Trophy, which features Pakistan’s imprint, Saikia stated that the BCCI will comply with the ICC’s directive. This suggests that the Indian cricket board has resolved the controversy surrounding their jersey and the inclusion of the official logo.

Given that the Men in Blue will not travel to Pakistan for the tournament, there had been significant backlash over the team potentially objecting to wearing the logo featuring Pakistan’s imprint. However, while India will play their Champions Trophy matches in Dubai, Pakistan will remain the official host of the tournament.

As per ICC guidelines for global events, all teams must submit their jerseys and training kits to the governing body for approval. In the previous edition of the Champions Trophy held in England and Wales, every team’s jersey featured the imprint of the host nations.

Additionally, during the 2023 ODI World Cup hosted by India, Pakistan’s jersey also featured “India” beneath the official tournament logo.

Will Indian Captain Rohit Sharma Attend the Opening Ceremony in Pakistan?

Although the BCCI has clarified the Indian team’s jersey details for the Champions Trophy, it remains uncertain whether captain Rohit Sharma will travel to Pakistan. Traditionally, captains of all participating teams are expected to attend the opening ceremony of the Champions Trophy in the host nation.

However, reports suggest that Rohit Sharma might skip the visit since India is scheduled to play its matches in Dubai. The BCCI has not yet provided clarity on Rohit’s participation in the opening ceremony, as no decision has been made. The tournament is set to commence on February 19, with the opening ceremony planned in Karachi.
