India’s New Chief Selector Sunil Joshi And Virat Kohli Were Once Teammates In The IPL

Former India cricketers Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh on March 4 (Wednesday) injected to the All India men's selectional panel by the current Cricket Advisory Committee. Moreover, Joshi will replace MSK Prasad as the chairman of selectors. Meanwhile, do you know that the former cricketer-turned selector was once a teammate of the current India skipper Virat Kohli?

Joshi has featured for India in 15 Test matches and 69 ODIs. Meanwhile, his domestic career spanned from 1992 to 2010 – a span in which he took 615 first-class wickets. His most memorable achievement in India colours came when he returned figures of 5 for 6 against South Africa in 1999. The former left-arm spinner made his debut during the historic 1996 England tour alongside Sourav Ganguly.

Meanwhile, Sunil Joshi has not only played alongside the current BCCI President Ganguly, but he has also rubbed shoulders with the current India skipper Virat Kohli. The former cricketer from Karnataka was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League. He also played four games picking one wicket and scoring six runs.

Virat Kohli, who has just come back after leading India in the U19 ICC World Cup was also a part of that Royal Challengers squad. While it was the only season for the then 37-years-old Joshi, Kohli's stock only grew from then and currently, he is arguably the best cricketer on the planet with plenty of records under his belt.

Meanwhile, Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh will join the incumbent selectors Devang Gandhi and Jatin Paranjpe, and Sarandeep Singh in the panel. Meanwhile, the committee has stuck to the old policy, bringing in Joshi (from Karnataka) and Harvinder (from Railways) to take over from the vacated positions from the south and central zone respectively.
