Indonesia Women won the first match by 96 runs.

Indonesia Women humbled Singapore Women by 96 runs to go 1-0 up in the six-match T20I series at the Udayana Cricket Ground in Bali on Friday, November 4. Batting first, Indonesia posted a mammoth 164 before restricting Singapore to 68 in a one-sided encounter.

Asked to bat first, the hosts made full use of the conditions on offer. Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini went all guns blazing from the word go, despite losing opening partner Berlian Duma Pare in the final over of the powerplay. 

Maria Corazon (18 off 12) and Andriani Andriani (20* off 22) also chipped in with useful contributions but it was Sakarini who launched the real onslaught on the Singapore bowlers. She remained unbeaten on 95 runs off 73 deliveries, laced with 11 boundaries and one six. 

Haresh Dhavina was the pick of the bowlers for Singapore, returning with figures of 2/27 in four overs. Vinu Kumar was also economical with the ball, conceding only 13 runs from her three overs.

In response, Singapore Women’s failed to resist the Indonesia Women bowlers. Only two batters managed to cross the double-digit mark. Skipper Shafina Mahesh (13 off 18) and Ada Bhasin (15* off 41) tried to resist the opposition bowlers but lacked support from the other end as they were bundled out for 68 in 17.3 overs. 

Sang Ayu was the pick of the bowlers, returning with 3/7 from her four overs, while Ni Made Putri Suwandewi picked up three wickets, giving away only eight runs from three overs to take the side home. 

Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini was awarded the Player of the Match award for her scintillating knock. With 1-0, Indonesia Women will look to carry forward the winning momentum when they square off against Singapore Women in the second game on Saturday, November 5.
