Tensions started rising in the Indian Cricket team as soon as Virat Kohli got removed from white ball captaincy and Rohit Sharma was reinstated as white-ball captain. And things got even worse than before when BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli had two different opinions about how the situation was handled.

Usually, it is the captain who attends the media before a Test match but it was Rahul Dravid who went on to attend the media. And he was asked whether he had any part in the decision-making in captaincy.

“To be honest that’s the role of the selectors and I am not going to get into conversations that I might or might not have had,” said Dravid when he asked whether he had his opinion in the alteration of captaincy in white-ball cricket.

“It’s not the place and the time to be doing that and discussing that. And what internal conversations I have had is certainly not going to come out in the media and I am not going to start telling people what conversations I have had,” Rahul Dravid shut the lid on the possible array of questions in a humble but firm manner.

“He is one of those players who loves Test cricket” – Rahul Dravid

Dravid also heaped praise on Virat Kohli’s passion for the red ball format of the game.

“Virat has played a huge role in that obviously as a player and a leader. He has been fantastic. He is one of those players who loves Test cricket and really wants to compete. Hopefully, he has great series that benefits the team as well,” Rahul Dravid concluded.

India are set to face South Africa in the first Test of the three-match series at Supersport Park in Centurion on boxing day. The visitors are looking to win their first-ever series in South Africa which has eluded them for the past 29 years.

It would certainly be a feather in the cap of captain Virat Kohli and head coach Rahul Dravid if India can win the series in South Africa.
