International Cricket Council had to be embarrassed due to a huge mistake by their social media team. ICC the world cricketing body tweeted about the Asaram Bapu verdict by the court.

The tweet was immediately deleted, it contained a video that showed Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Asaram.

His conviction relates to a 2013 sexual assault of a teenager during a religious ceremony. A Jodhpur court today convicted Asaram Bapu of raping a 16-year-old girl.

“ICC media person tweeted from the official ICC account as “Narayan, Narayan…” quote tweeting the video put out by Alt news co-founder Pratik Sinha, a known critic of Narendra Modi.

The tweet had in its text: “Sharing some old sweet memories between @narendramodi and Asaram.” Narendra Modi has been chief minister of Gujarat, where Asaram Bapu has an ashram.

International cricket council quickly realized their mistake and apologized to the public. The ICC has apologized and opened an internal investigation after a politically-charged social media post was retweeted by their official Twitter account.

A statement was issued by International Cricket Council:- “ICC is dismayed at a non-cricket related tweet appearing on its Twitter feed earlier today. We would like to extend our sincere apologies to anyone who was offended during the short space of time it was up. We have launched an investigation into how this happened.”

BCCI too condemned the tweet, an official was quoted as saying, “This is unfortunate that an objectionable post has been attributed to the ICC official social media account. Not done. We did bring up the matter to the ICC”s notice.”
