IPL 2018: Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Rajasthan Royals by 11 runs to go top of the table

Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers defended 152 to beat Rajasthan Royals in the 28th match of VIVO IPL 2018 played at Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur just a few minutes ago. SRH captain Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite Williamson, captains knock, SRH scored just 151. While defending, SRH bowlers did a great job again to defeat RR.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Captain Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bat first. K Gowtham got the early breakthrough dismissing dangerous Shikhar Dhawan for 6 runs. Both Dhawan and Hales added 17 runs for the 1st wicket. Alex Hales and Kane Williamson played steadily with Rajasthan Royals bowling well.

At the end of first 6 overs, SRH scored 39 runs for 1. After the power play overs, Kane Williamson and Alex Hales played with positive intent. Williamson showed great positive intent and put pressure on RR bowlers. New Zealand captain Williamson reached his 4th half century of IPL 2018 off 32 balls. Both Williamson and Hales added 92 runs for the 2nd wicket. Hales was dismissed for 45 runs in his debut match.

Ish Sodhi who made his IPL debut dismissed Williamson for 63 runs. In the death overs, Jofra Archer did a great job to restrict the SRH batsmen to 151 for 7 in 20 overs. Archer took 3 wickets while Gowtham picked 2 wickets for RR.

Chasing 152, Rajasthan Royals lost an early wicket of Rahul Tripathi in the 3rd over for 4 runs. Sanju Samson and Rahane steadied the innings, scored 43 runs after the first 6 overs.

Both Samson and Rahane added 59 runs for the 2nd wicket. Sanju Samson was dismissed for 40 runs. Apart from Rahane who stood firm at the other end, other Rajasthan Royals batsmen could not score runs. Rahane hit a half-century off 42 balls and remained not out on 65.

Siddarth Kaul picked 2 wickets while Basil Thampi, Rashid Khan, Yusuf Pathan, Sandeep Sharma picked 1 wicket each. SRH won the match by 11 runs.

SRH 151 for 7 in 20 overs ( Kane Williamson 63, Hales 45, Jofra Archer 3/26, K Gowtham 2/18) beat

RR 140 for 6 in 20 overs ( Rahane 65*, Sanju Samson 40, S Kaul 2/23) by 11 runs.

RR captain Rahane said: Despite restricting 151, our batsmen could not hit runs. I played well but could get support from other batsmen. We need a collective effort from the batsmen. Jofra Archer was brilliant and made sure we had to chase a modest total.

SRH captain and Man of the match Kane Williamson said: The surface was slower on the side. We got a good start. It was nice to dismiss Ben Stokes early because he is a dangerous batsman. It was a challenging wicket and did not get 10-15 runs more than what we expected. Alex Hales is a superb batsman and contributed well.

In the previous occasion, these two teams met, SRH crushed RR by 9 wickets.

With this SRH have moved to the top of points table with 12 points
