IPL 2018: Sunrisers Hyderabad Register their 3rd win beating Kolkata Knight Riders

Sunrisers Hyderabad continued their good form by beating Kolkata Knight Riders in the 10th match of IPL played at Eden Garden’s, Kolkata just finished a few moments ago. Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson won the toss and invited Kolkata Knight Riders into bat.  Robin Uthappa was dismissed early for just 3 runs. Chris Lynn and Nitish Rana added steadied the innings with a solid partnership. At the end of first 6 overs, KKR posted 49 for 1. In the 8th over, rain arrived.

After the rain break, Rana was dismissed for 18 runs. Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine batted well before the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers restricted KKR batsmen. Apart from Chris Lynn who scored 49 runs and captain Dinesh Karthik 29, Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a brilliant bowling display to restrict Kolkata Knight Riders to just 138 for 8.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of bowlers for Sunrisers Hyderabad team who took 3 wickets for 26 runs. B Stanlake and Shakib AL Hasan picked 2 wickets each. Rashid Khan was expensive today giving away 31 runs in 4 overs.

Chasing 139, Wriddhiman Saha got off to quickfire start scoring 24 runs off 15 balls. Sunil Narine got the breakthrough dismissing Saha. Narine also dismissed dangerous Shikhar Dhawan for 7 runs. At the end of 6 overs, SRH scored 46 for 2.

After the power play overs, Kuldeep Yadav got the wicket of Manish Pandey for 4 runs. Captain Kane Williamson and Shakib AL Hasan steadied innings with aggressive batting. Kolkata Knight Rider’s bowlers could not put pressure on the batsmen. Both batsmen added 59 runs for the 4th wicket, as Chawla dismissed AL Hasan.

Kane Williamson reached his half-century off 43 balls and was soon dismissed after. Yusuf Pathan quick fire 17 that helped Sunrisers Hyderabad win their 3rd match in a row by 5 wickets with 1 over to spare.

SRH 139 for 5 in 19 overs ( Kane Williamson 50, Shakib Al Hasan 27, Saha 24, Sunil Narine 2/17) beat

KKR 138 for 8 in 20 overs ( Chris Lynn 49, Dinesh Karthik 29, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 3/26, Shakib AL Hasan 2/21, Billy Stanlake) by 5 wickets.

KKR captain Dinesh Karthik said: I was thinking 160-170 was a good total on this pitch. SRH have some good bowlers and on a given day you have to think about who is not bowling well. We sent Narine in because they were using a left-arm spinner.

SRH captain Kane Williamson said: Our bowlers did a great job again and restricted KKR to just 138. I wanted to stay till the end and help the team to win the match. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was outstanding and created pressure. Our fielding was brilliant. There was no turn and Kolkata Knight Riders are a strong team.

Man of the match Billy Stanlake said: I wanted to bowl quick and aggressive. My role is to pick wickets at the top, putting pressure on opposition team. The wicket was tennis ball like. Rana and Russell”s wickets were due to brilliant catches

Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Rajasthan Royals in the first match tomorrow at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, while the second match will feature Kings XI Punjab taking on Chennai Super Kings at Mohali.
