The performance of Royal Challengers Bangalore led by Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been the talk of the town so far in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. After ending up as runners in 2016 edition, the team hasn”t much created an impact and it has seriously dented their confidence levels. Though a lot of star players are readily available in the camp, their inability to contain the overs, provide stability in the middle and dependence on solely two players (AB and Virat) has been their major weakness now.

The side has lost six out of six in the season and yet to open their account in the points table. While many experts are sharing their views on the inconsistency of the team, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir took a serious dig at the skipper Virat Kohli.

In his column for Times of India, Gambhir said “While Virat Kohli the batsman is an absolute master, Virat Kohli the captain is an apprentice. He has loads to learn. Rather than blaming the bowlers, he should take the blame on himself.”

Not just this, but Gautam Gambhir also said that his antics as a captain were so poor that he wasn”t able to execute his plans in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders. It is to be noted that RCB were on the verge of winning the game until Southee”s 29 runs over where Russell sealed the victory for the two-time champions.

Speaking in the same Gautam Gambhir said “Instead of getting Stoinis to bowl the remainder of Siraj’s over, he (Kohli) should have gone with Pawan Negi on a pitch where the ball was gripping. It is a no-brainer that (Andre) Russell likes pace on the ball. That is when Virat the leader should have been in the ears of Southee reminding him of his plans for Russell.”

Royal Challengers Bangalore has just lost a
game against Delhi Capitals and they continue to remain at the bottom of the
table. A miracle only can make them into playoffs race taking into
consideration the performance of other teams as well.
