A few weeks back there was no certainty about Ben Stokes participation in IPL 2020. Stokes was spending time with ailing father in New Zealand away from cricket. However, Rajasthan Royals got a major boost when Stokes decided to come to the UAE and play the IPL.
The all-rounder has now revealed that it was his father who urged him to fulfil his duty and return to cricket. Stokes added that these are difficult times for his family but they are doing their best to support each other.

The parents of Stokes wanted to see him return to the field and get back to playing. Stokes added that his father has always been strong on responsibilities thus he wanted him to complete his job and fly to UAE for IPL 2020.
“Saying goodbye to my dad, my mum and my brother in Christchurch was tough. It has been a difficult time for us as a family, but we’ve pulled together and supported each other as best we can”, Stokes wrote in his column for the ‘Daily Mirror’.
“And I was able to get on the plane with my parents’ love and blessing after we reached the decision, for me to get back playing, as a family with no external influences”, Stokes added.
“My dad was also very strong on the responsibilities I have. He told me I have a duty to do the job that I do and I have a duty as a husband and father as well”, wrote Stokes.
