In an official media press release, Delhi Capitals stated that their assistant Physiotherapist has tested COVID-19 positive. DC thus became the third franchise after Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals to report a positive case in the IPL.

Delhi Capitals reported that the physio had travelled independently to the UAE after which he remained in quarantine and did not come in contact with any member of the team.

“He was isolated immediately, and is currently at the IPL Isolation Facility in Dubai for the next 14 days, at the end of which he will have to produce two negative reports for him to be able to join the Delhi Capitals squad. The franchise’s medical team is in constant touch with him, and wishes him a speedy recovery,” the release stated.

Meanwhile, as per the Standard Operating Procedure, the other members of the side will undergo test every fifth day of the week throughout the tournament. Delhi Capitals are currently in Dubai and will start their IPL 2020 campaign on September 20 against Kings XI Punjab.

DC will be playing 7 games in Dubai, 4 in Abu Dhabi and 3 in Sharjah with two-day games starting at 3.30 pm IST. The evening games will start from 7.30 pm IST for all the teams including Delhi Capitals. The Shreyas Iyer-led side will be keen to win their maiden IPL title after missing out on the last two seasons. They have a quality squad in place with a good mix of youth and experience.

However, they will miss the service of Jason Roy, who pulled out owing to injury. England batsman Daniel Sam’s will replace him in the squad.
