Amit Mishra has always been a champion performer in the IPL. Even in the ongoing season he hasn’t given anything away and quietly been doing his job for Delhi Capitals. It is not a shock that Mishra is the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL history.

However, the leg spinner wasn’t able to cement his position permanently while playing for India. Playing for India is the pinnacle for every cricketer in the country. Mishra who has always been tagged as underrated believes that he deserved more than he got in his international career.

I Didn’t Get What I Should Have When Playing For India- Amit Mishra

“I don’t know if I am underrated. I used to think too much earlier, so mind used to get diverted, now I just focus on my job”, Amit Mishra said in an online press conference.

“To be honest, I didn’t get what I should have but it’s okay. People know who is Amit Mishra. That’s is enough for me. I have to focus on my cricket and bowling so that is what I do”, he said reflecting upon disappointment about not playing enough for India.

Meanwhile, there’s always competition for places to play as a front line spinner for India. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have been a regular feature in India’s Test squad. On the other hand, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have dominated the scene in white-ball cricket.

Amit Mishra can be recognised as unfortunate because he wasn’t given a long rope by the selectors and team management when he was part of team India. In total, Mishra has represented India in 22 Tests, 36 ODIs and 10 T20Is respectively.

Furthermore, the exclusion of Ashwin due to injury allowed Mishra to be part of the playing XI for Delhi Capitals. The Shreyas Iyer-led side will now play the Kolkata Knight Riders on September 3 (Friday) in IPL 2020.
