IPL 2020: Kagiso Rabada Likely To Miss The First Week Of IPL

South Africa’s pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada has struggled with injuries frequently in recent times. He once again suffered a groin injury which ruled him out of the ongoing series against Australia followed by the three-match ODI series against India. However, things look worse for the fast bowler as Rabada might miss the first week of the Indian Premier League which starts from March 29.

The 24-year-old sustained a groin strain during the recently-concluded T20I series against Australia. The injury has ruled Kagiso Rabada out of action for four weeks. Cricket South Africa Chief Medical Officer, Dr Shuaib Manjra revealed the nature of Kagiso Rabada’s injury and stated that he will be out of action for almost four weeks. The pacer has already started his rehabilitation under the watchful eyes of the CSA support staffs.

According to reports, Kagiso Rabada is now racing against time to be fit for the start of the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL). The 13th season of the cash-rich league gets underway on March 29 with defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium.

On the other hand, Kagiso Rabada’s team Delhi Capitals begin their campaign from March 30 against the Kings XI Punjab at home. Although he is expected to get fit by then, but he is unlikely to play in the first week of the IPL that includes Capitals’ matches against Kings XI Punjab on March 30 and Kolkata Knight Riders on April 3.

Kagiso Rabada finished as Delhi Capitals’ highest wicket-taker in the last season with 25 scalps. The Capitals will hope the Proteas cricketer to fire again as they are desperate to bring the first title home.
