Sandeep Patil Slams Ravi Shastri After India’s Debacle Against New Zealand

Former India cricketer and chairman of selectors Sandeep Patil has slammed the Indian team following their debacle in the Test series against New Zealand. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli & Co suffered a humiliating 2-0 loss against the Kiwis. As a result, they also dropped points in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship.

The home side completely outplayed India both technically and mentally. They needed a lot to do to come back after the whitewash in the three-match ODIs but New Zealand gave not an inch to the visitors. On both occasions, the Kiwi pacers posed difficult questions against the Indian batsmen, who had no answers to it. Indian batters failed to register a single century throughout the series which sums up their Test series.

The entire team copped massive criticisms for the former cricketers and Sandeep Patil also joined the noise as he found it hard to believe that none of the batsmen played their natural game in New Zealand.

“New Zealand beat us convincingly [2-0] and it was painful to see our batsmen not playing their natural game. To me, this was beyond comprehension. Doing what comes naturally to you is the only way you can put runs on the board. All of them have played enough cricket to adjust,” Patil told mid-day.

Furthermore, Sandeep Patil also took a dig at India's head coach Ravi Shastri for making irresponsible comments in the media. He also said that the No.1 Test side should know how to win across all conditions.

“I am aware that teams struggle against us but if you want to be the No.1 team in the world, you have to succeed in all conditions. Are we going to be the No.1 team only at home? Ravi Shastri [head coach] will soon come up with a statement and say we have learnt our lessons and we will take the positives. But what will happen,” he further added.
