Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli along with Dale Steyn and AB De Villiers paid salute to the ‘real challengers’ who have been fighting day in day out to keep us safe from the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the pandemic has put the entire globe in a standstill with the death toll rising with every passing day.

In the third part of its ‘My COVID Heroes’ series, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s star batsman AB de Villiers talks about his parents. Previously, Kohli and de Villiers had also joined hands to raise money by auctioning their sports gear to fight the pandemic.

‘Just like AB’s parents, we all know of real challengers in our lives who have been fighting on the frontline during this pandemic. Share their stories with us using #MyCOVIDHeroes #WeAreChallengers These challengers deserve to be known, deserve to be celebrated! #PlayBold’, RCB captioned the video.

‘If jerseys could talk, this one would have said thank you. Let me tell you about my real challenger. That is my dad (Abraham B de Villiers). He’s a general practitioner from back home, in South Africa, who worked on the frontline during the COVID pandemic. He put himself on the line. My mum (Millie de Villiers) also helped in the practice. And I am very proud to be their son.’

The Virat-Kohli led side had their best IPL season in 2016 when they made the finals with skipper Kohli scoring 973 runs in the season.

RCB start off their IPL 2020 campaign by facing off against Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 21 in Dubai.
