West Indies opener Chris Gayle has commenced his outdoor training with his IPL franchise ahead of IPL 2020. The ‘Universe Boss’ joined the Kings XI Punjab after completing the mandatory 6 day quarantine period. The soon to be 40-year-old is extremely excited to once again represent KXIP in the upcoming IPL with his new ‘teachers and students’.

KL Rahul for the first time in his career will be leading the KXIP, whereas Anil Kumble will be the head coach of the franchise. Gayle after his first practice session stated he is looking to rally around the new ‘head boy’ Rahul in IPL 2020.

The legendary batsman also opened about how he spent his quarantine period when he landed in UAE.

“Back in class, some new students here as well and it was good to be around them. Some new teachers here as well, we have new headmaster (head coach) in Anil Kumble, looking to rally around with new head boy (captain) KL Rahul,” Gayle said in a video posted by Kings XI Punjab.

“Yeah, it was normal, it was pretty relaxing for me, I did some exercise and watched some TV. Now, here am I back to training”, Gayle said about his quarantine period.

Meanwhile, the entire Kings XI Punjab squad are now training in full flow for the much anticipated IPL in the UAE. The side is fine-tuning their skills at the ICC academy net practice facility in Dubai. KXIP is yet to win their first IPL trophy and will be hoping to break their jinx under the leadership of KL Rahul.

Moreover, the IPL 2020 schedule is officially set to be announced today as confirmed by chairman Brijesh Patel. The BCCI was trying to make a flexible and dynamic schedule keeping the COVID-19 pandemic in mind. IPL 2020 will take place from September 19- November 10 in a bio-secure bubble.
