Chennai Super Kings succumbed to their seventh loss in this IPL campaign after losing to Rajasthan Royals in Abu Dhabi on Monday (October 19). Their chances of qualifying for the playoffs has taken a hit after this loss. After the loss, MS Dhoni has been at the receiving end from various quarters. He spoke at length on various mistakes the team has made this season and the areas they need to work on in the remaining four games of IPL 2020. One of his comments which brought him a lot of criticism was his ‘lack of spark comment’ for the youngsters in the team.
MS Dhoni said that the youngsters in the team this year, did not show the spark in the opportunities they got which is why the team played with the senior players in the team.
MS Dhoni Slammed For His Lack of Spark Comment‘ on Youngsters
“There were few chances to the youngsters. Maybe we didn’t see the kind of spark that they could’ve given us to say okay you know push the experienced guys and make space for them” said Dhoni in his post-match chat after the game against RR.
He further said that now they will give opportunities to the youngsters in the remaining matches and give them a match environment to see what they deliver under pressure.
“What this result has done is give those youngsters whatever is left in our league stages. They will get a chance and have no real pressure on them so they can go out and express themselves” said the CSK skipper.
Dhoni further said that the youngsters in the team, gives them an option to look forward to in the future and sort out their batting line-up in the process.
“They give us the option of looking at the other options in the batting lineup or where they’d like to bat” concluded the decorated skipper.
This loss against RR, puts CSK almost out of contention in the race for the playoffs. Even if they will all their remaining games, CSK will end up with 14 points in the league stage, which might not be enough.

Remember 2016 RPS under MS Dhoni Irfan Pathan who was in brilliant form throughout SMAT before IPL didn't even get a chance for first 9-10 games.And CSK was almost out of race when he got chance.
