Chennai Super Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 20 runs to win match 29 of IPL 2020 in Dubai. This was CSK’s third win in this IPL campaign. They have moved up to the sixth position in the points table after this win. More so, this win helps them to keep their playoff hopes alive. Meanwhile, there was a moment in the game which caught the attention of every one involving MS Dhoni and umpire Paul Reifel.
The incident took place in the 19th over of the Sunrisers Hyderabad innings when Shardul Thakur bowled a wide yorker outside the off-stump. It was clearly outside the tramline and the umpire was about to stretch his arms wide.
However, it was just about then that an angry MS Dhoni defended his bowler. Seeing his burst into anger with his eyes wide open, Reifel refrained from calling it a wide.
Duel between Paul Reiffel and MS Dhoni
For CSK, all their bowlers except Piyush Chawla were among the wickets. Conditions in the second innings favoured MS Dhoni rotate his bowlers around with the pitch slowing up. Chennai Super Kings were able to play their brand of cricket, which is to slow the game up by introducing their spinners in the middle-overs against their opposition.
The pitch offering enough spin and bounce to the spinners helped them to tie the opposition batsmen down and increase the required rate in the process resulting in wickets.
CSK, still needing a miraculous turnaround to make it to the playoffs, started off on a winning note in the back-half of the tournament, picking two crucial points.
Meanwhile, Twitterverse enjoyed this moment and enjoyed the duel between Paul Reiffel and MS Dhoni.

Reply clearly showed umpire was going to call wide then the reaction from MS came and he stopped it. pic.twitter.com/3ChKRV7dmC

No point blaming just Indian umpires if Paul Reiffel, an elite panel ump, a former world cup winner with 127 international caps changes his mind when he sees Dhoni is pissed. Weak umpiring. #CSKvSRH #IPL2020
