Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni received a grand welcome on his return to the MA Chidambaram Stadium for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The legendary cricketer, who was out of action for almost eight months resumed training on March 2 (Monday) amid huge roars.
One of the successful teams of the cash-rich league, the Super Kings began their training yesterday. While the initial days of practice will only be attended by a handful of cricketers, the full-fledged training will start from March 19, ten days ahead of the tournament opener. Chennai will open their campaign against the defending champions Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in the first match of the season.

Upon arrival, MS Dhoni was present at the nets in the afternoon, where thousands of Chennai fans gathered to cheer for their hero. He entered the nets amidst a lot of cheers and looked in good tough as he timed the ball from the middle of the bat before bringing out his trademark helicopter shot. Dhoni looked confident and will hope to be in the best of his form in the upcoming IPL with the ICC T20 World Cup lined up in Australia later this year.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni had made him unavailable from cricket since India’s ouster from the semifinals of the ICC World Cup losing to New Zealand. The cricketer from Ranchi had poor returns in the premier tournament in England and decided to take a sabbatical. During this period, the veteran cricketer worked with the Army in August. He also played an amateur golf tournament in the USA and took part in a charity football match.
Although he took part in a couple of training session with the Jharkhand team, but this was his first full-fledged training since the World Cup. The former India skipper will hope to hit the right chords before the tournament starts.
