The Sunrises Hyderabad taste their first victory of IPL 2020. The David Warner led side defeated the Delhi Capitals by 15 runs at Abu Dhabi.

The SRH bowling finally came good as they never allowed DC to get away with the run chase. The spin wizard Rashid Khan was superb as he picked 3 key wickets and gave away only 14 runs. Rashid picked wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant and DC skipper Shreyas Iyer.

No Delhi batsmen could benefit on their starts as they struggled to get going on the slow Abu Dhabi pitch. Left-arm seamer T Natrajan too was brilliant in the death overs and took the important wicket of Marcus Stoinis.

In the end, the target of 163 proved to be above par and DC was handed their first defeat of the season.

Earlier in the match, the top order of SRH stood tall and posted a match-winning total. Johnny Bairstow scored yet another 50 whereas his opening partner David Warner also chipped in with 45.

However, it was the knock of Kane Williamson that made all the difference. The New Zealand skipper was playing in his first IPL 2020 match and was straightway at his best. He scored 41 from just 25 balls that proved to be match-defining.

Our Death Bowling Today Was Fantastic: David Warner

Here’s what the winning captain of SRH, David Warner had to say after the match

David Warner, “We lost the toss tonight and won the game, so feels good. Unfortunately Mitch Marsh was injured and we had to figure out how to get overs in but young Abhishek Sharma came in. We have been working really hard in our training with the death bowling, and today they were fantastic because they can be called up at any stage”.

“We need a bit of luck with the bat, around ten of them found the fielders. But in this heat, running does take a toll. I did hit some good shots, and I told the analyst that it only found the fielders”, said Warner.
