Jasprit Bumrah will spearhead the Mumbai Indians attack as they take on Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi later tonight. Mumbai have dominated over the years and enjoys a massive head-to-head advantage. Mumbai have won 22 out of the 28 games between the two teams in the past. KKR have won only 6. In the last five games, KKR have lost five games.
Meanwhile, former South African pacer Dale Steyn has a suggestion for Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the game. Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Steyn said that with batsmen looking to take risks and score quickly in the first few overs, Bumrah will be able to make an impact.
Jasprit Bumrah Should Bowl Inside The Powerplay: Dale Steyn
“He doesn’t bowl a lot in the powerplay. But I would want to see him bowl one in the powerplay with the batters looking to score quickly and fielders inside the ring, one in the middle and then two at the death because he is so good. If you get wickets in the powerplay, you look to win the game,” Steyn added.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Manjrekar who was part of the same panel discussion said that Trent Boult might not be bowled in the death overs. Manjrekar reckons Mumbai Indians might be better off using up Boult’s overs early on and keeping Jasprit Bumrah and Adam Milne for the death.
“I don’t think they (Mumbai Indians) will give the bowling to Boult in the last four overs. They will use him a bit like Dhoni uses Deepak Chahar. Boult is someone I would not trust bowling in the last few overs.” Manjrekar said.
There are doubts over Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya’s inclusion in the playing XI for tonight’s game. Both were not a part of the playing Xi against CSK. Traditionally they started off with a defeat. However, Mumbai Indians are known to bounce back after a defeat and KKR already have the worst record in IPL against the defending champions.
