Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya produced a magical innings against Punjab Kings to take their team home and keep their playoff hopes alive. Pandya was the architect of the victory as he added an unbeaten 45-run stand with Kieron Pollard as Mumbai won by six wickets. This win takes them to 10 points and fifth on the points table at the moment.

In the post-match chat with Nathan Coulter-Nile, Hardik Pandya spoke about his approach with the bat. He scored 40 off 30 balls after a watchful start against the spinners. He also coped up a blow from Mohammed Shami which he said woke him up for the rest of his innings.

“To be honest, I will give credit to Shami as well because the ball which I got hit woke me up. I also told Kieron Pollard the same. It changed things for me actually, because I was finding it difficult before that” said Hardik.

Hardik Pandya further spoke about playing on the merit of the ball and not paying heed to what happened on the previous ball. Hardik was under a lot of pressure to perform coming into the match against Mumbai Indians and he finally delivered.

“I try to make sure that every opportunity is a new opportunity. You can be the hero or you can contribute in a way that your team can win. I have always been the kind of cricketer who has seen the ball and played. I forget what has happened on the previous ball and then make sure that I give my 100% when the next ball arrives” Hardik Pandya further added.

With the ball Jasprit Bumrah and Kieron Pollard took two wickets each. In the process, Pollard reached 300 T20 wickets. He also took the catch of Deepak Hooda to dismiss him which was his 300th in T20 cricket.

Mumbai Indians have matches against DC, RR and SRH to follow after their win against Punjab Kings.
