Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Eoin Morgan has confirmed his participation in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. He has made himself available after ECB postponed the team’s proposed tour to Bangladesh. England were due to play three ODIs and three T20Is in Bangladesh in September-October but the respective boards released statements after mutually agreeing on postponing the tour as of now. This comes as good news for KKR ahead of the remaining season, They are placed seventh at the moment in the points table.

Eoin Morgan confirmed his decision to return after his team London Spirit was beaten by Northern Superchargers in The Hundred. He said that the involvement of other England players with contracts in the tournament was a matter of personal choice.

“It’s a complete individual decision. I think it was a win-win either way. If we went to Bangladesh we’d play in conditions that are foreign to us. If some guys go to the IPL, they’ll play in similar conditions [to the World Cup] or for guys that need a rest, they take a rest ” Morgan said.

Morgan did not have a good first half of IPL 2021 for KKR. He scored just 92 runs in the first seven games that he played. He is yet to hit his first fifty in the season. KKR needs skipper Morgan to come good in the remaining seven games if they are to harbour hopes of making it to the playoffs.

Captain Morgan scored over 400 runs in IPL 2020 when the IPL was played in the UAE. With Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell, he forms the core of the KKR middle-order. All of them needs to click in the remaining half of the season.

Earlier, KKR pacer Pat Cummins confirmed his unavailability in his recent Youtube video. He said that his wife is expecting during the second half of the season which is wh he decided to skip the second half.

Meanwhile, ahead of the T20 World Cup, England will tour Pakistan for a two-game T20I series, on October 14 and 15 which is expected to be their final dress rehearsal before the T20 World Cup.
