IPL 2021: List of Players Who Tested COVID-19 Positive

After several cases have been registered inside the bio-bubble, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League Governing Council concluded to suspend the ongoing IPL. At least four players and a few staff have tested positive for the virus within 48 hours. The 30th IPL 2021 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders was rescheduled after two of the latter’s players returned positive results. After more players tested positive for the COVID-19, BCCI officially declared the suspension of the league.

List Of COVID Positive Players In IPL 2021

1.    Varun Chakravarthy 

Kolkata Knight Riders’ one of the key players, Varun Chakravarthy, tested positive for the COVID-19 before their game against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ahmedabad on Monday. The initial official statement said that the match was rescheduled for the same reason. According to reports, the leg-spinner went to a hospital for scans through “Green Corridor”. Though, officials have ruled out the possibilities. In IPL 2021, he bagged seven wickets. 

 2.    Sandeep Warrier

 Warrier, 30, became the second player from the KKR franchise to test positive for the coronavirus. The pacer has only warmed the bench in all seven matches. 

 3. Amit Mishra

Veteran spinner Amit Mishra, who was acing the game for Delhi Capitals this year, returned a positive result. The 38-year-old aced DC’s outfit with six scalps in four matches. Mishra was in Ahmedabad, where his team was playing their second leg. 

 4. Wriddhiman Saha 

Wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha was playing for SunRisers Hyderabad. Just before their fixture against Mumbai Indians, Saha tested positive for the contagious virus on Tuesday. Saha, who displayed brilliant form in 2020, could score eight runs in two matches in the IPL 2021. 

 5. Akshar Patel

Just before the beginning of the IPL, after the players entered the bubble, Akshar Patel had tested positive for the virus. He missed out on a couple of games initially.

Previously, a lot of foreign players quit the IPL midway and returned home. Players like Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa, Andrew Tye, Liam Livingstone left the bubble and pulled out of the league amid the pandemic.
