Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has opined that all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja should once again bat ahead of the skipper MS Dhoni for the Chennai Super Kings. The IPL 2021 season will resume on Sunday, September 19 with the Chennai Super Kings taking on the Mumbai Indians in Dubai.
In the first phase, Ravindra Jadeja batted at number 6, while the skipper at number 7. Sanjay Manjrekar feels that they should continue with the same batting position. He added that the MS Dhoni-led should do well this time, because of their impact players, Sam Curran and Moeen Ali. Speaking to the Espncricinfo, Manjrekar said,
“Jadeja should bat ahead of MS Dhoni. I think so (team will do well) because their approach has changed and Moeen Ali and Sam Curran have become impact players so they should perform better than the last time we saw them in UAE.”
Sanjay Manjrekar and Ian Bishop predict overseas playing combination for Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings
Sanjay Manjrekar and Ian Bishop expressed their views on the possible overseas playing combination for the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings. With the injuries and non-availability of a few players for CSK, the former cricketers chose Hazlewood and Lgidi as the pace bowling options.
“I think Moeen Ali. They will have to get both their fast bowlers in Josh Hazlewood and Lungi Ngidi and if there is a little bit of sign of a turn, maybe Imran Tahir,” Manjrekar said on CSK’s overseas players’ combination.
“For the first game because of injuries, I would go with Moeen Ali, also Josh Hazlewood and Lungi Ngidi,” said Ian Bishop.
For the Mumbai Indians, both Manjrekar and Bishop agreed that they should include Adam Milne in the XI. Manjrekar said,
“Toss-up between Coulter Nile and Adam Milne. There is enough batting for MI so I think Adam Milne.”
“Adam Milne definitely should play. He is the form of his life,” Bishop concluded.
