Punjab Kings are playing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first of the two games on a super Sunday. While RCB are on 14 points Punjab are on 10 and threatening to take the fourth spot in the playoffs. Meanwhile, an umpiring blunder was seen in the very early phase of this crucial match. The umpiring decision, at last, did not please the Punjab skipper who even questioned the umpire.
In the eighth over of the RCB innings, Ravi Bishnoi bowling to Padikkal got him caught while playing the reverse sweep. Punjab reviewed the decision after the onfield umpire ruled him not out. The replays showed certain spike when the ball was passing the bat but due to the umpires being not convinced, the benefit of doubt went in Padikkal’s favour. The decision certainly upset Punjab skipper KL Rahul.

Meanwhile, just after the confusion in the eighth over, Moises Henriques took two wickets in his very first over. He dismissed Kohli and Dan Christian of back to back deliveries to bring Punjab Back into the game.
Both the captains wanted to bat first given the nature of the Sharjah wicket in recent times. However, PunjabKings will be chasing in this game, something that they have not been entirely confident doing.
“We understand that the pitches tend to slow down here, precisely why we want to bat first and put pressure. We are playing the same side. We feel we have enough depth in all departments in our lineup. We got Harshal into our side on a trade and that is a signal to the players. He has understood his role. Maxwell has been moving around a lot and we gave him the freedom, and he is enjoying his time here with us as well. To be honest, this pitch looks much better than the last game we played here. If we play well, we could get those 20-25 extra runs which could be the difference. You need to make sure you get those runs and not leave them on the field. You need that momentum” said Kohli after winning the toss.
