Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad had a memorable IPL season as he did the double of winning the Orange Cap along with the IPL title. He thus becomes only the second batsman to achieve such feat in the IPL. The right-handed opener scored 636 runs in 16 games at an average of 46.61 and a strike rate of 132.12 laced with seven fifties and a hundred.
Ruturaj Gaikwad received a grand welcome on his way back home and did all the rituals in the customary Maharashtrian style. His mother welcomed him within their traditional style as the batsman was seen doing the rituals without his shoes on. CSK’s official Twitter handle also shared a clip of the same.

The CSK opener time and again acknowledged the contribution of MS Dhoni in his rise as a cricketer at CSK. Dhoni too spoke very highly off the youngster. He did not have a good first season in IPL 2020 scoring just over 200 runs. However, the franchise kept their faith and retained him for the next season which paid off big time.
Not only did he win the Orange Cap along with the IPL title, Gaikwad was also awarded the Emerging Player of The Season Award.
The Maharashtra batsman recently revealed the advice and suggestions that he has received from his CSK skipper MS Dhoni.
“Whenever I come back from the nets if he (Dhoni) is around, he tells me what my flaws are and suggests solutions. Mahi Bhai’s words encourage me a lot. I got a lot of batting tips from Mahi Bhai and Faf and I am going to apply those on the Sri Lanka tour. Faf doesn’t speak much on the field. If I play a good shot, he will give a reaction. He comes, gives a fist pump. But after the match, he will ask several questions like how did I play that shot, etc. It’s fun to bat with him in the middle,” Gaikwad told the Times of India.
MS Dhoni Is A Man Of Big Stages: Ruturaj Gaikwad
Dhoni played a match-winning innings against Delhi Capitals in the first qualifier after which Gaikwad made a big comment on the CSK skipper.
“He’s a man of big stages for sure and he would absorb any pressure given to him and he did a good job and hopefully we are just one game away,” Gaikwad had said.
