Indian wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik has opined that David Warner will be the player to watch out for in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. The T20 tournament commences on Saturday, March 26 in Mumbai.
David Warner had a forgettable last Indian Premier League season. He averaged just 24.37 in eight matches and was dropped mid-way through the season. However, the left-hander will be confident going into the new season, as he has been one of the best players in the tournament’s history.
David Warner was signed by the Delhi Capitals for INR 6.25 Crores at the IPL 2022 auctions. Dinesh Karthik, who will play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore this season, believes that the Australian cricketer will once again prove his greatness this season.
In a chat on Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik was asked about who he thinks will be the player to watch out for this season. He said,
“Definitely David Warner (when being asked about the player to watch out for). And I say that because he’s someone who has shown greatness in IPL over a period of time, [he has won] three Orange Caps. Obviously, last year didn’t go according to plan but I am sure he’ll have a point to prove. He’s gone back to a franchise that he’s played for before. Interestingly, I’ve played with him in that franchise, terrific cricketer, and I am pretty sure he’ll have a very, very good season.”

Further, Dinesh Karthik also picked the overseas Most Valuable Player in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. He opined that Devon Conway is a strong player and will do well for the Chennai Super Kings. Karthik stressed that the Kiwi batter has had a good couple of seasons for New Zealand. He said,
“Devon Conway (overseas MVP). He’s a new import, he’s going to make his debut for CSK. Terrific player. He’s had a brilliant couple of seasons for New Zealand, did very well even in the World Cup under pressure even though he batted in the middle-order which is not something he does [often]. I have a feeling he’s a very strong player and will go very very well for CSK.”
The Indian Premier League 2022 season will begin with Chennai Super Kings taking on Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.
