Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma has provided an update on Suryakumar Yadav’s availability in the upcoming IPL 2022. The mega event is all set to get underway on March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium.
Incidentally, Suryakumar picked up a thumb injury during the limited-overs series against West Indies earlier this year. He has been out of action since then. Recent reports have suggested that Yadav might miss Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2022 opener against Delhi Capitals on March 27.
Rohit Sharma couldn’t confirm Suryakumar Yadav’s availability for the first match. However, Rohit confirmed that they are trying to bring Suryakumar Yadav as early as possible.
Addressing a virtual press conference, the 34-year-old cricketer said:
“Yeah, Surya is at the NCA at the moment. He is recovering well and will be here soon. I can’t give you his availability right now whether he will be available for the first game or not but we are trying to get him here as soon as possible once we have the clearance from NCA.”
The celebrated batsman is yet to acquire the clearance certificate from the NCA to travel to Mumbai for IPL 2022.

It will be a massive blow for Mumbai Indians if Suryakumar Yadav misses a couple of games in the beginning. He has been an integral part of the squad ever since he joined in 2019.
The middle-order batsman has stellar campaign last season, scoring 317 at a strike rate of 143.43 to finish as the side’s second-highest run-scorer.
Yadav will hope to join the squad as early as possible and get the ball rolling.
