Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has begun training with the Mumbai Indians ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022 season. The tournament is all set to kick off on March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Rohit Sharma recently led the Indian team to a clean sweep in the T20I and Test series against Sri Lanka. He joined the Mumbai Indians squad following the series win.

On Wednesday, the franchise posted a clip from Rohit Sharma’s batting session. The opening batter was seen smashing the ball all over the park in the video. Mumbai Indians captioned the video as,

Last few seasons, Rohit Sharma’s performance has been not been as expected with the bat. He averaged 29.30 last season, scoring 381 runs at a strike rate of 127.42. This year, Rohit Sharma will be keen to get back to his best and lead the Mumbai Indians from the front.

Rohit Sharma reveals Mumbai Indians’ opening pair for IPL 2022

The Mumbai Indians skipper, Rohit Sharma has confirmed that he and Ishan Kishan will be opening the batting for the franchise in IPL 2022. He added that he is looking forward to the partnership. In the pre-season conference, Rohit Sharma said,

“I will open the batting. I have been doing that in the past so I’m looking forward to open with Ishan Kishan.” 

Mumbai Indians head coach, Mahela Jayawardene too shared the same thoughts as Rohit Sharma. He believes that the Rohit-Ishan combination will do well for the side. Mahela said,

“I think Rohit and Ishan is a good combination up top and Ishan is also a wicketkeeper, and there are very few who can bat in the top three.”

The Mumbai Indians will play against the Delhi Capitals in their opening clash of Indian Premier League 2022 on March 27 at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
