Gujarat Titans batter David Miller is in sublime touch in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. He has proved to be an asset in the middle-order for the franchise, performing in tough situations.

In this season, he averages 64.14, scoring 449 runs in 15 matches at an average of 141.19. His run tally includes two half-centuries. In the league stage match against the Chennai Super Kings, Miller slammed an unbeaten 94 to take his team across the finishing line. He is the second leading run-getter for the Titans this season.

However, last few seasons he was struggling to make an impact in the tournament. In the 2020 and 2021 IPL seasons, he played only 10 matches, scoring only 124 runs. Speaking about the tough times, Miller expressed that he did not get the backing from the franchise.

“I feel like I am repeating myself. But one thing that changed this season, is that I am playing every game. The last four-five years in IPL… I had a bad season in 2016 and then haven’t really felt backed at all. That’s the nature of the IPL. There are so many overseas players and only four can play. I had to go back and work on my game. Although I felt really good playing for the domestic teams in South Africa, I was looking to find that good nick. That’s what happened this season,” Miller said as quoted by CricTracker.

Playing all the games this season allowed me to settle down: David Miller

The Gujarat Titans signed David Miller for INR three crores at the auctions. The power-hitter has so far repaid the faith shown in him by the franchise. Miller expressed that playing all games this season has allowed him the time to settle down.

“I have been playing all the games and that allows you to settle down. Which helps you not really worry about the selection, but win games. As you get older and mature, you do understand the pressure and how to deal with failures. What works for you as a player. What you need to do and what you don’t need to do,” Miller said.

The South African cricketer also spoke about his partnership with Rahul Tewatia in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. He stated,

“We are very close and we understand each other’s game. Like what he is thinking. You must know what’s the character of your partner. I have never seen the stadium, I have only seen the pictures of it. I don’t know what’s the wicket like.”

The Gujarat Titans will take on the Rajasthan Royals in the finals of the Indian Premier League 2022 season on Sunday, May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
