Gujarat Titans continued their impressive with a six-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in the 7th match of IPL 2023 played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi on 4 April.
GT captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to field first. It was a disciplined bowling effort as Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan took 3 wickets each while Warner was the top scorer with 37 and then Axar Patel’s cameo helped Delhi Capitals post 162 for 8.
Despite losing 3 quick wickets, Sai Sudharsan looked in complete control and played according to the situation along with Vijay Shankar. David Miller showed his class with big hits and Sai helped Gujarat Titans win the match by six wickets with 11 balls to spare.

- Sai Sudarshan broke Hardik Pandya’s record
The left-handed stylish batter from Tamil Nadu, Sai Sudharsan played a superb knock for Gujarat Titans. He came at the crease after the fall of Wriddhiman Saha’s wicket.
Despite losing 2 more quick wickets, Sai looked in complete control with his shots and put pressure on Delhi Capitals bowlers keeping the scoreboard ticking. He remained not out on 62 and was named the Player of the Match award. During his impressive knock, Sai hit 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Due to this knock, Sai Sudrhasan holds the record for the best batting average by an Indian for Gujarat Titans in IPL history. Sudarshan’s batting average improved from 33.4 to 45.8 after his brilliant knock against Delhi Capitals. Hardik Pandya had the record of best batting average against Delhi Capitals of 38.46 for Titans.
- Mohammed Shami broke Jasprit Bumrah record
Mohammed Shami looked in brilliant touch against Delhi Capitals. He troubled David Warner in the first over. It was an amazing performance by Shami picking up 3 wickets for 41 runs.
After a quickfire start by Warner and Shaw, Shami struck to get rid of Prithvi Shaw. He then produced a beauty to dismiss Mitchell Marsh. Shami bowled the last over and dismissed Axar Patel to finish with figures of 3 for 41 in 4 overs.
Shami holds the record for most wickets by an Indian pacer in IPL since 2019. Shami has now 83 wickets at the number 1 spot while Jasprit Bumrah slipped down to number 2 at 82 wickets.
- Shami broke Mark Wood’s record
Mohammed Shami was superb with his line and lengths in yesterday’s match against Delhi Capitals. He went past Mark Wood at the top of the table with the most dot balls in IPL 2023 so far.
Shami delivered 15 dot balls and kept the pressure on Delhi Capitals’ batting lineup. So far Shami has bowled 28 balls without conceding any runs so far in IPL 2023. Mark Wood has bowled so far 26 dot deliveries in two matches he has bowled.
Shami gave away 41 runs in his 4 overs but kept consistent lines and lengths making life tough for Delhi Capitals batters.
