Aiden Markram was announced as the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023. Sunrisers Hyderabad had an anguishing start to the tournament when they face Rajasthan Royals. Bhuvneshwar Kumar walked out for the toss in the first match and chose to bowl. This proved to be a nightmare decision for SRH.
Buttler and Jaiswal put on 85 in the first six overs. Hyderabad missed the services of Klassen, Markram and Jansen. Since these players have now joined the SRH camp, things will become easier for SRH. Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Lucknow Super Giants on the 7th of April, SRH will look to get back to winning ways.
SRH named Aiden Markram as captain shortly after he won CSA T20I league with Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Markram led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to victory and since then he was handed over the captaincy of SRH and South Africa T20I.
South African core in SRH team
These three players will be a starter for SRH. Aiden Markram will settle the batting lineup and add strength to it, while Jansen will provide extra depth to their bowling. Sunrisers Hyderabad have failed to qualify for two consecutive seasons now. They last qualified for the playoffs in 2020.
Sunrisers Hyderabad last won the Indian Premier League in 2016 under the captaincy of David Warner. Sunrisers Hyderabad have found little success after they left Rashid Khan and David Warner. Leaving a player like Rashid Khan is never a good decision.
Hyderabad will look to repeat the 2016 triumph this year and players like Markram and Jansen will play a key role in this.
Markram will hope to continue his batting form in IPL 2023 as well. The 28-year-old batsman recently got to his maiden ODI hundred vs Netherlands. Markram had a good taste of a captaincy stint in the CSA T20I league, and he will bring in a lot of those inputs of winning such a league into the SRH team.
