IPL 2023: Akash Singh Named Replacement For Mukesh Chaudhary

Chennai Super Kings named Under 19 player Akash Singh for Indian Premier League season 16 starting from tomorrow onwards for the injured Mukesh Choudhary. CSK will begin the 2023 edition of IPL against defending Champions Gujarat Titans to be played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Mukesh Chaudhary was retained by Chennai Super Kings in the retention list but will not take part in the tournament due to an injury. CSK will be without Kyle Jamieson he was ruled out due to an injury. They will not have the services of Mahesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana who will join the CSK franchise after six-match limited-overs series against New Zealand in New Zealand on April 8.

It will be a major blow for Chennai Super Kings this season as Mukesh Chaudhary looked impressive with his left-arm pace bowling with 16 wickets from 13 matches ( 13 innings) at an economy rate of 9.31 runs per over. He picked wickets in the first six overs and put the opponent batters under pressure.

Chennai Super Kings would be hoping that their bowling proves wrong as it looks very weak. They would be aiming to win their fifth title as Ben Stokes will not bowl in the first few matches due to an injury.

CSK would look to cope with his absence and hope other bowlers step up to the plate against top-quality batters. The batting comprises Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, and Ben Stokes.

Akash Singh joins the CSK squad

Akash Singh was unsold in the mini-auction and would join the CSK franchise at his base price of 20 Lakhs. He has played 9 T20 matches with 7 wickets at an economy rate of 7.87 runs per over. Singh was part of India’s Under 19 squad that reached the finals of the World Cup played in South Africa in 2020.

Akash made his debut for Rajasthan during the 2019 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He moved to Nagaland from Rajasthan in the 2022-23 domestic season.
