At Eden Gardens, Rinku Singh contributed a valuable knock as the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by a margin of five wickets.
On Monday, May 8 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Andre Russell lavished praise on Rinku Singh after the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by a margin of five wickets.
When the Knight Riders chased down 180 with the final ball and moved to No. 1, Rinku was still unbeaten after 21 off 10 balls. 5 in the points chart.
Russell added that “He needn’t worry as long as Rinku is in the middle of the action with him. After the Knights got into some trouble after Nitish Rana was dismissed, Rinku and Russell added 54 runs for the fifth wicket.”
Russell was run out by KKR’s run-chase in the penultimate ball
But Rinku hit a four off Arshdeep Singh to bring the Knights home. “I don’t care whether I take a single or not as long as Rinku is on the other end.”
“I responded, “Yes, sure!” because I trust him and the angle coming into him is a little easier because the ball was tailing away from me when he asked, “What if the ball beat you? Should we go for it?”. [Arshdeep] was widening the nails on his yorkers. Russell expressed his happiness following the game.”
The Eden Gardens crowd could be heard chanting “Rinku Rinku” as Rinku was hitting the PBKS bowlers throughout the park. Russell concurred, saying that Rinku bats with great maturity, especially during tense run chases, and that makes him proud.
“Watching him do what he’s doing right now gives me the chills, and I have company in the back end of this franchise,” he said. Not just me is under pressure. I know what he is capable of if I get a single. Years of hard work have brought him to this point, but he still has so much more to offer.”
“He works extremely hard, is very disciplined, and is the team’s funniest member. There is never a dull moment when Rinku is around. In the changing room, I make an effort to stay close to him. Although he tries to appear tough, we are good friends, the man continued.”
