Mumbai Indians pacer Arjun Tendulkar recorded the joint-most expensive over of IPL 2023. The incident happened at Wankhede Stadium when Mumbai Indians played against Punjab Kings.

Arjun, who entered the game in the 16th over – his third of the evening – ended up handing Sam Curran and Harpreet Bhatia a whopping 31 runs. Arjun gave Curran a couple of length deliveries, and Curran smashed them down the ground for a six and a four on either side of a wide delivery.

MI took the first wicket with a searing yorker after choosing to bowl first. After a single, Bhatia faced the young left arm and struck out twice, hitting two fours, a six, and another four off a no-ball. In three overs, the 23-year-old finished with figures of 1/48.

Arjun tied Yash Dayal, a seamer for the Gujarat Titans, for the dubious distinction of bowling the most expensive over this year. When Kolkata Knight Riders needed 31 runs to win in the final over, the left-arm Dayal had earlier allowed a mind-boggling five sixes to Rinku Singh off consecutive balls.

After Daniel Sams, who allowed 35 runs in an over against KKR last year, Arjun’s 31-run over is the worst ever by a MI bowler. Despite losing the wicket of Matthew Short (11) fairly early in the innings, PBKS still got off to a strong start.

Prabhsimran Singh and Atharva Taide, two talented young Indian players, made some exquisite shots that kept the PBKS scoreboard moving. In 5+3 overs, PBKS reached 50 runs. With Prabhsimran Singh (25*) and Atharva Taide (19*) still unbeaten after six overs, PBKS declare their powerplay at 58/1.

Mumbai Indians have had a good show in the IPL 2023 so far

Arjun Tendulkar stepped up and took his first wicket in front of the home crowd, but Mumbai staged Punjab’s demise in the middle overs. The young pacer used a yorker to trap Prabhsimran Singh (25) just in front of the stumps. Quickly after, Piyush Chawla responded, handing the match to MI. For a score of 29 (17), Chawla dismissed Atharva Taide.

Sam Curran (0*) and Harpreet Singh Bhatia (1*) were still at the crease after 10 overs as PBKS managed to post a score of 83/4. As PBKS gradually reached 100 runs in 13 points in four overs, Sam Curran and Harpreet began to prepare a counterattack.

In the sixteenth over, Curran and Harpreet selected the young Arjun Tendulkar as their target. Six boundaries were given away by Arjun in his over, and the 31 runs he gave up ultimately allowed PBKS to aim for a total of 200 or higher. The MI bowlers started to leak runs all over the field as both batters demonstrated confidence in their batting. The match’s pivotal over occurred during this over.

After the last two overs, Cameron Green entered the attack to limit the damage. Harpreet attempted to rotate the strike, but the ball ultimately crashed into the stumps, allowing the Australian all-rounder to successfully break up the partnership.
