Shreyas Iyer, a cricketer for Team India, met Ben Chilwell, a footballer for Chelsea, on Wednesday, April 26 at Stamford Bridge. The left-back gave the Mumbai cricketer a blue jersey, which he also posed in.

His second trip to the football team’s home stadium. The dedicated Chelsea supporter’s first trip to the English Premier League (EPL) team was in 2017.

Chelsea posted a photo to Instagram with the caption:

At Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, cricketer @ShreyasIyer96 met up with @BenChilwell. Keep an eye out tomorrow as Shreyas’ episode of Blues in India goes live.

For those who are unaware, Shreyas Iyer has been dealing with a recurring back injury since December and is currently out of action. He had surgery recently, which will prevent him from playing for at least three months.

Recently, the regular Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain was given the go-ahead to withdraw from the ongoing IPL 2023, and Nitish Rana took his place.

Twitter Reactions:

The 2023 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final, which will be played at the Oval in London starting on June 7 and is no longer open to the 28-year-old.

Ajinkya Rahane, who last competed for Team India during their tour of South Africa in 2021, has been added to the selection committee in Iyer’s absence.

The most recent Iyer update from the BCCI, published on April 15:

“The surgery for Shreyas Iyer’s lower back issue is scheduled for the following week. After spending two weeks in the surgeon’s care, he will return to the NCA for recovery. ”

After the Bangladesh tour was over in December, Shreyas Iyer first felt uneasy. Both the opening test for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia and the home series against New Zealand were missed by the right-handed batter.

The middle-order batsman came back to play in the second and third Tests against the Australians.

But following a couple of days of fielding, the pain returned during the last Test. He was unable to bat during the game’s sole Indian innings, which resulted in a draw.

Before the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which will be held at his home venue later this year, Iyer will now try to fully recover.
