IPL 2023: England Pacer Chris Jordan Replaced Jofra Archer In Mumbai Indians

Due to an injury, veteran England pace bowler Jofra Archer will miss the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2023. Archer will be replaced by Chris Jordan, a veteran English actor.

IPL 2023 is off-limits for Mumbai Indians pacer Jofra Archer. Chris Jordan will join the Mumbai Indians team for the remainder of the current campaign. Jordan made his IPL debut in 2016 and has taken 27 wickets in 28 IPL games.

Jofra Archer, an England pacer, has been disqualified from the IPL 2023. Which is a major setback for the Mumbai Indians ahead of their crucial match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

”Chris Jordan will be a part of the team for the remainder of the season”, the Mumbai Indians announced on Tuesday. Only two wickets were taken by Archer at a 9.50 economy rate in his five games for the Mumbai Indians.

Chris takes Jofra Archer’s place while the ECB continues to monitor his recovery and level of fitness. Jofra will go home so he can concentrate on getting better.

Following a nearly two-year absence due to back and elbow injuries that both threatened his career. Archer made his return to international cricket earlier this year.

Jordan, who didn’t find a buyer at the December auction despite having a base price of Rs 2 crore, has previously played for the ECB, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

Jordan, 34, debuted in the IPL in 2016 and has taken 27 wickets in 28 IPL games. The quick bowler has 96 T20I wickets and has played in 87 T20Is for England.

For the Super Kings, Jordan’s final IPL team, he made four appearances in 2022 and claimed two wickets. Additionally, the England and Wales Cricket Board issued a new statement on their behalf, claiming that the choice was mutual.

“Fast bowler Jofra Archer will return from the Indian Premier League with immediate effect, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced. After having surgery on his right elbow, Archer has been recovering.

‘Recently, playing through the discomfort in the hopes that it will go away has proven difficult. In order to give him the best chance for a full recovery. It has been decided that he will return to the UK for a period of rest and therapy”, according to a statement from the ECB.
