Gujarat Titans player Shubman Gill was the game’s most outstanding performer after his team defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore and eliminated them from contention for the Indian Premier League playoffs in 2023.

In the Titans’ final league stage game, Gill finished the game unbeaten on 104 off 52 balls and nearly single-handedly led the team to victory. But it appears that a lot of people were upset when RCB withdrew from the competition and posted disparaging remarks about Gill. Even the batter’s sister Shahneel experienced abuse from some.

The playoffs were mentioned in Shubman Gill’s post-game photos with the caption, “It begins now.” This is when everything started. The Gujarat Titans’ opening match was widely cited as the cause of RCB’s defeat.

Additionally, Shahneel Gill received lewd and abusive comments on her most recent Instagram post

I despise you. “Tumne RCB ko haraya hai (It’s because you RCB were eliminated from the tournament),” comment says.

The additional comment from a supporter read, “Bhai, tumhara to pehle se hi begins ho gya tha RCB ko ho jane, diye hote (Your team had already qualified, you could have let RCB win the game).”.

The commenter under Shahneel’s post wrote, “Your brother broke everyone’s heart,” or something to that effect.

Users voiced their support for Shubman Gill. “Let me make one point clear: those who abuse Gill watch cricket for just two days a year and won’t be caught doing it. To win the IPL championship, RCB’s bowling attack needs to perform better the following season and never depend on a single player. The ability of RCB to recover if Kohli or du Plessis are out has been stated.”

Gujarat won the toss at Chinnaswamy Stadium and decided to bowl first after delays brought on by rain in Bengaluru. Once more living up to the title of “King,” Virat Kohli broke Gayle’s IPL record for most centuries.” The Bengaluru-based team’s opening batsman for RCB scored 101 runs off 61 deliveries to push the total to 197.

Gujarat’s Sunday, however, was lucky. Thanks to Shubman Gill’s century, the defending champions were able to win with ease. Vijay Shankar was also able to increase his age by fifty years.

Just behind RCB captain Faf du Plessis, Gill is second on the list of leading run scorers this year. The Gujarat Titans’ opening batsman has 680 runs in 14 games, including two centuries and four half-centuries.

On May 23, Gujarat and Chennai Super Kings will square off in Qualifier 1. Chennai is a four-time IPL champion.
