Mumbai Indians batters Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan pulled off a great performance against the Punjab Kings on Wednesday, May 3 at Mohali in the 2023 Indian Premier League. They smashed half-centuries each as the visitors chased down 215 runs with seven balls to spare. The duo engaged in a fun conversation after the match.

Ishan Kishan slammed 75 off 41 balls, while Suryakumar Yadav smashed a 31-ball 66 runs knock. The duo put together a 116-run stand for the third wicket. In a video shared by the Indian Premier League, Ishan Kishan was seen pulling Suryakumar Yadav’s leg. He joked that the right-handed batter takes away all his credit by outperforming him in the match. Ishan Kishan said,

“It was a good start, and during the most important phase during a T20 game you were there, you played good shots, and that helped ease some pressure on me to keep playing the big shots. That was a very positive aspect in terms of the match which helped me get into my comfort zone.”

“I was standing on the non-striker end when you decked Sam Curran all over the park before the strategic break, whenever I play well, you take away all the credit by playing even better, how will people talk about me, you played shots all over the ground,” he added.

I didn’t try to do anything special: Suryakumar Yadav

Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav thanked the team physios for helping him to prepare for the game against the Punjab Kings. He expressed that he did not try to do anything special in the match. So far, the right-hander has scored 267 runs in nine matches, at an average of 29.67 with three fifties.

“I would like to thank the physios, they’ve worked incredibly hard to help me get ready for the match in the last 48 hours, they would stay awake all night to help me prepare for the match. I didn’t try to do anything special,” said Suryakumar Yadav in the video shared by IPL.

Mumbai Indians rose to sixth on the points table with 10 points. They have won five out of their nine matches so far in the tournament. The Rohit Sharma-led team will take on the Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, May 6 at the Chepauk Stadium.
